a sky full of hope

sometimes doing something out of the ordinary wakes people up to what is real. and special.

scenes from home are not always the typical frenzy of orchard road, or the multitude of dishes waiting to be consumed. sometimes, there only needs to be something simple, something peaceful for you to reflect on how crazy the world is now.
cycling through the north of singapore opened many new fascinations for wide open spaces, beautiful blue skies, wind-in-your-hair freedom and green green grass. i never knew how pretty reservoirs are. the still waters, gentle ripples. that blazing sun on your skin. reminded me of softball trainings of oh-so-long ago where we baked under the crazy afternoon heat, turning into our famed golden brown/black as some people will emphasize.

images of yesteryears. attap huts with their zinc roofs and unmowed lawns. the imperfection of wild cow grass and houses on stilts in the foreground of a pristine golf course. i felt a bit nostalgic in the face of such juxtaposition.
i don't know how singapore will change in the coming years, but it is said to be moving forward at an exceeding rate. we can very well be in the top 10 richest countries in 5-10 years but somehow i do not really look forward to the fast-encroaching concrete forest.
